What was special about Mrs. Pratibha Devi Patil’s Udaipur visit?
Pratibha Devi Patil arrived in City of Lakes
After the Pravasi Bhartiya Divas in Jaipur, present Mrs. Pratibha Devi Patil arrived in the city of Lakes to unveil a statue of Maharana Pratap in Bandoli Village which is about 56 kilometers from Udaipur. Mrs. Pratibha Devi Patil was welcomed by elite people of city lead by the Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot who had reached here earlier to the president’s arrival. Mrs. Pratibha Devi Patil was welcomed with a bouquet presented by Gehlot. Soon she left for Diver in a military helicopter.
As Mrs. Pratibha Devi Patil reached the helipad, the organizers had arranged a golf car to carry the president to the spot through a bridge. But Pratibha Devi Patil‘s tribute to Pratap was so strong that she preferred to walk down to the spot through the simple bridge. Each and every person present there was surprised and mesmerized with this audacious act of the president.
Mrs. Pratibha Devi Patil unveiled the Pratap’s horse ridden statue and offered the great Maharana flowers along with the State Chief Minister.
Pratibha Devi Patil Said Pratap has been guiding force
“Pratap has been guiding force behind country’s unity. His gallantry examples have leaded the youth always. Many soldiers come from this soil which also was the battle field of Pratap. I salute the soil of Diver,” Mrs. Pratibha Devi Patil said while addressing the gathering of ex-army men. “The youth of today must take an inspiration from the life of Pratap and should remain ready to sacrifice their lives even for the service the nation,” the president added.
Pratap fought a historical battle with Mughal emperor Akbar and never gave up. During his battle days he even had to live on bread made of grass but his determination to protect the Mewar was undeterred.
Pratibha Devi Patil further added that the cremation spot of Pratap which is situated in the mid of water gives an impression as if Pratap is in the lap of Goddess of Water. President also planted a tree along with Gehlot. The program was organized by Akhil Bhartiya Pratap Seva Sangh.
Mrs. Pratibha Devi Patil is with surviving members of army men
Mrs. Pratibha Devi Patil also stressed upon the need to extend support and care towards surviving members of army men. “When I was governor of Rajasthan, I used to write to family members of army people and tried to help them as much as I could,” Mrs. Pratibha Devi Patil said.
Mrs. Pratibha Devi Patil expressed that army man even after their retirement can help to build and construct a healthy society. Mrs. Pratibha Devi Patil said that their services would be vital to eradicate evils like dowry and female feticide.
Ashok Gehlot on the occasion assured that the Mewar Complex which is a concept to preserve Pratap’s memories will be completed soon and government will ensure that Halighati also gets further developed.
