Could you believe this? Even if 321 were demanded out of 50 overs, it would have been a huge ask. Not because Indian Cricket team has no capabilities but rather they have been out of form throughout this Australia based Common wealth Bank Series.

India won inside 37 overs and gained the bonus points it needed to keep its hopes alive to still make it to the final of Commonwealth Bank Series 2012. It was a great platform set by Sachin Tendulkar and Virendra Sehwag with their blistering 39 and 30 runs upfront. Later the acceleration was done with cool headed mind in style by Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina. Virat Kohli scored his 9th ton and ensured India got their 321 runs inside 40 overs which was the tough condition set to keep their hopes alive to the Finals of CB Series.

Prior to this the Srilaknkan team scored a mammoth of 321 runs in their allotted 50 overs. The score was helped with couple of tons from Dilshan and Sangkara. Dilshan scored 160 and Sangkara added 105.

The body language of Indians looked dying. SA scored more than 180 runs in their last 20 overs and that broke all the hopes of winning. Then calculations were done and it was revealed that India must win this match by 40 overs to win a bonus point which could help them reach finals. Now normally chasing even 290 was a failed effort last week. Now getting 321 in just 40 overs was a big big ask. And seriously no one was hoping that this Indian team with current form would even be able to win the match in full 50 overs, let alone winning the bonus point in 40 overs.

Tendulkar and Sehwag began the inning in most natural way. Sehwag was seen playing pull shots on the on side which was rare to see. Tendulakar looked as comfortable as he would be few years ago. He probably was not bothering about his hundredth ton pressure. Sehwag threw his wicket and then Tendular collapsed to a beauty from Lasith Malinga. And hopes started to die.

Gautam Gambhir then ensured along with Virat Kohli that they do not lose any more wickets. With that the run rate also they maintained was healthy. Gautam got his fifty but then got out. Now it was up to Virat and Suresh Raina and the two steered the scoring along. Finally the score was achieved in just 36 overs and 4 balls.

It was truly a treat to watch Virat Kohli batting today who was also and rightly adjudged Man of the Match.
